[Charlotte NC] Open-Air Slate SUV prototype photos & impressions - November 2025

My son and I were also in Charlotte this weekend and got to see the Slate prototype in person. My 15-year-old has been following the project since it was first announced, and he came away even more impressed after seeing it up close. The rep we spoke with mentioned that the truck was wrapped...

TFL Truck Video: EV Trucks Are DEAD. (& Their Take on Slate)

My son is going to turn 16 next August. He really wants a truck. Before the Slate his dream vehicle was either a two-door 90s era ranger or a Japanese K truck. We still have quite a bit of time but he’s all in on the Slate if it’s something we can afford as a family. My first truck was an 80’s...

I ordered an extra large and it fit fine 6’1ā€ 214 here. Doesn’t swallow me.

Slate merch, who has made a purchase, I can’t be the only one

I wore a slate T-shirt to a trampoline park for my daughter’s birthday, and it sparked four conversations with strangers. It was quite an interesting experience. I don’t recall ever having a piece of clothing that prompted such interactions with strangers.

    Gas vs Electric cost

Great thread so far—lots of strong insights already shared. Just to add a bit from my own experience: My wife and I both drive Mustang Mach-Es, and we’ve found the cost and convenience really depend on your charging setup. We live about 60 miles from a nuclear plant and are on a pretty clean...

    Need FM Radio

I can see making some brackets for a Bluetooth sound bar with Dolby Atmos...ha! Seriously, though, I have seen some that take a DC input and seem to only consume 20- 30 watts. and many consume less. I think we could come up with a great solution.

Using Slate as a Case Study for Technology Engineering & Design Class

’m a Technology Engineering and Design educator in rural North Carolina, and I wanted to share something I’m really excited about. This upcoming school year (starting in August), I plan to use Slate Auto and the Slate Truck as a case study in my Technology Engineering & Design courses. We’ll be...

Sandy Munro's first reactions to Slate truck

Kinda off topic, but not. My mom has a 2005 Ford Focus station wagon she bought new. It's seen some things. Still doing great, but I know she will need a new vehicle soon. The Mavrick has been the vehicle we have talked about the most. The Slate may fit her needs better. She no longer takes long...

5 Star Crash Safety Rating goals being met by Slate truck in early crash tests āļøāļøāļøāļøāļø

My 14 year old has always wanted a Kei truck. As a parent I’ve cringed about that. I’m looking at the Slate as a viable alternative. He turns 16 in 2026.

    Option costs

All good thoughts. Since I live in a somewhat rural area and have two cars with different ranges, I would prefer the extended range. However, it would have to be less than $5,000 more expensive. If I could add it later, I would consider waiting.
