So in. I've been telling people for years this is what I want. Perfect for a retired old fogie living in the suburbs. Had to settle for a Hybrid Maverick, (which I really like). Hoping it holds it's value to pay for a slate. Should be close, I don't put a lot of miles on it.
Own a '23 Maverick Hybrid that was ordered in '22 so benefit of price protection. Only 15k miles so far.
At $50 reservation, the ability to customize and approx $20k assuming ev credit remains, it might be a nice transition vehicle from the Mav.
I don't need a big truck but I want a box big enough to carry bulky items including drywall and plywood.
Got in on day 2. Not much to lose but a bit of checking account interest.
Empty nester by then as well.
There will be all kinds of customizations for better in car entertainment w a tablet placed in the middle and hopefully benefit from better battery tech at lower costs by the time they pump these out.
At first pass, I thought kinda ugly but looking at the customizations, it's a very interesting twist. I also love the ability to convert to SUV though I am sure that kit will be a min $2.5K... if it includes wheels, rear seats and all the glass.
Has anyone seen how you remove the truck box wall behind the driver seat? It looks like the glass is easily removable but I don't see a seam in the bed? Or is it a drop in bed liner? Hmmm.
Also love the idea of easily removing the roof to go open air. Bring on the front fender mirrors and let me take the doors off as well..
