So I signed up for their marketing a few days ago and got no emails, but I luckily came across media highlighting the preorder.

If it's like any of the previous EV companies, then it's a placeholder for your place in line. Also like with any new product, you become a beta tester whether you like it or not.

Got my reservation in! Can't wait, this thing is completely innovative in a back to basics way. Can't wait to show my kid how crank windows work 😆

Ha! I think I'm too old for that now. Mostly because I don't want to reach over to the passenger side to roll down the window. I've had many Chevy Cavaliers and basic Jeeps in my day and know the mechanics involved. At 56 with a rotator cuff issue, I think maybe I'm done with crank windows.

Slate wasn't even on my radar until I got the invite for this forum, but what a great idea. It's too bad it's Bezos again, but I bet it won't be long before he ties up a good chunk of the US auto market along with all his other conquests. I could easily see him starting here and extending this with a few other platforms - slowly, smartly.

Just took a look at the configurator and I'm sure by the time I was done, I'll have optioned my Slate up to an extra 50%. I've gone soft in my old age! I've still got my Scout BEV reservation in, but I'm keeping an eye on this one!

I had a Rivian R1T from launch traded in for a lighting 6 months ago, because I wanted to power my house during blackouts. This will be interesting.... I have an R2 reservation, but this might replace it. See which comes first.
