I've got my reserve in, excited and remain hopeful they can pull it off. I saw where the body panels are supposedly made from polypropylene. My understanding is this material is susceptible to uv damage. Does Slate recommend wrapping regardless or do we have any idea if these panels will stand the test of time?

My guess... the reason the base color is Black/Gray is they are using Carbon Black as a UV protectant for the plastic.
I do wonder if over years it will turn lighter? I have an old Jeep TJ and the fenders discolor after years in the sun. I just give them a light coat of black paint but they sell other treatments to restore them too.

I've got a friend that runs a paint shop and I'm curious about the process of just having the panels sanded and painted. I know plastic tech has come a long way in the last 20 years but I wouldn't be surprised to see some stripey panels in the future. If the whole plastic outer shell comes apart like a Pontiac Fiero or something it may be easy to repray or re-treat down the line.

Pic is a good example, those big sail panels on 1st gen Chevy Avalanches stripe up like crazy.
