Option costs

In lieu of a configurator yet I am wondering likely costs for the options. For example the large battery is 30kWh larger than the standard battery and at a cost of $100-125 per kWh I expect this will be a $5,000 option. For the SUV conversion I would think a similar cost since on the Jeep the plastic cover is over $1000 and the roll bar and seats are needed to be added. Other thoughts?

The battery upgrade cost will be the dealbreaker for me in terms of whether I spring for anything further. Hopefully they'll realize that a low bare bones cost doesn't really mean anything if they immediately stick it to you regarding the #1 pure functionality item. I just want a bare bones electric truck at $20K and not much more.

All we can discuss is what we have been told. The Battery and the SUV flatpack are the two things that can be make it or break it expensive, the aftermarket can make pretty much make everything else at a fair market price.

If the base price changes down the road, then that's another matter.

I had read that the expanded battery would also be available after the fact and not just from the factory.(perhaps the author was confused) Assuming that is true, I wonder how that works. Would I have to pay for the ~80kWh and the upgrader keeps the ~53kWh battery or is this going to be more modular? i.e. if you purchase the extended range module after the fact they add a ~30kWh module to the existing ~53kWh pack? Also, on the price of the expanded battery. When I bought my Leaf in 2022 it was a 40kWh pack, to upgrade to the 60kWh pack was $7000 extra. That was over 3 years ago but I like the $5k price for 30kWh better than Nissan's per kWh valuation.

I read an article last year about battery costs. It claimed that they have been dropping about $25/kWh annually (at least). Speculated that by the end of this year it would be under $100. And maybe stop at about $50 per, eighteen months after that. ???

My conclusion was to delay purchasing large batteries until I really needed them.

I'm also confused about the extended battery. I've seen it both ways, factory only and optional add-on in the future. One article gave the impression that there was a spot for it, and it just cabled in. (huge Anderson PowerPole?)

My mental calculation was what if it was $3000. Would I likely get it? More likely at less, much less likely at more.

Also, I think it said the extended one was 300 pounds more. So presumable your truck payload drops by 300?

All good thoughts. Since I live in a somewhat rural area and have two cars with different ranges, I would prefer the extended range. However, it would have to be less than $5,000 more expensive. If I could add it later, I would consider waiting.
